Nobody would have thought...
...Chile could be associated with premium wines. Before 1995, all we cared about was good ol' affordable ones.
Seña changed that. It gave the world its first taste of premium Chile wine. Intentionally, Seña means signal. Then, the world-renowned owners Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick set out to signal a paradigm shift for Chile. They succeeded.
But it was not enough. Seña needed blind justice to convince sceptics who wouldn't even give it one try. The 2004 Berlin Blind Tasting was organised. Seña 2001 bested this whole list: Chateau Lafite, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Latour, Tignanello, Sassicaia, Solaia, Guado al Tasso. Enough said?
Seña is uniquely known for "finesse and elegance". For the uninitiated, it must be hard to believe as Chile is generally known for its warm climate. But Seña is made in Aconcagua Valley which benefits from cool nights thanks to influence from the Pacific Ocean.
2017 vintage is yet another triumph; a strong signal to try.
